Turkish president, Iraqi Kurdish leader discuss regional situation

Turkish President Recep Erdogan spoke by phone with the President of Iraq’s Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, on Saturday to discuss the latest situation in the region.
This is contained in a statement by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, posted on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
During the phone call, Mr Erdogan said Türkiye will continue its efforts against actions that could drive the region into long-term disaster.
He added that recent movements by terrorist organisations and their affiliated groups are being closely monitored.
Mr Erdogan added that Türkiye is working intensively to end regional conflicts and facilitate a return to negotiations.
Messrs Erdogan and Barzani highlighted the importance of the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative.
