Flight operations at Berlin Brandenburg Airport were temporarily suspended on Wednesday evening after an employee reported seeing an unidentified flying object, airport authorities said.

“Operations have since resumed,” an airport spokesman told dpa, adding that the halt was a precautionary measure.

“We had to temporarily halt flight operations.”

Germany’s Federal Police said the sighting could not be confirmed.

Officers conducting a close-range search did not find a drone or any other suspicious object.

The report came from an airport employee who noticed something unusual in the sky while observing from a hangar.

As a safety measure, no takeoffs or landings occurred for about 30 minutes beginning at 6:40 p.m. (1740 GMT), in line with standard procedures for such incidents.
