Two Nigerians, Michael Ayodele and Bayo Adejumo, have been arrested in Cape Town, South Africa, for allegedly printing fake R100 banknotes.

The arrest was made after the police raided the apartment where the fake banknotes were printed.

A video of the raid posted by a South African digital news page newsunplug_sa seen by the Peoples Gazette on Tuesday showed the suspects handcuffed as the police officers searched them.

Wads of banknotes were also seen packed in an open bag and some placed on the table while the police searched the apartment.

It was reported that the suspects printed the counterfeit money to purchase a Mercedes CLE.

The development, which raised concerns about crime in South Africa, drew comments from netizens who commended the officers for apprehending the suspects, maintaining that illegal immigrants must be forced out of the country.

“Good work, officers,” said langatuthuko.

mthokozisi77957 noted,” Just look at the filth of foreigners but this ANC government doesn’t want to leave here, South Africans. Take ANC out of power so that this filth can end.”

“Let these bitches go,” another commenter enzoursolomzi noted.

Also, csbillion added, “Big nose must be arrested from office together with all immigrants.”

The development came amid xenophobic and anti-immigration tensions ravaging the country.

Several South African groups claimed that undocumented foreign nationals contributed heavily to crime, unemployment and the strain on public services such as schools and hospitals in the country, accusing them of illegal activities and competing for local resources.
