Muheebah Yusuf, coordinator of the Muslim Ladies Circle at the University of Ilorin, has underscored women’s role as vital pillars in strengthening family bonds and fostering a harmonious society.

Ms Yusuf spoke on Thursday while delivering a lecture at a Ramadan Lecture Series organised by the Islamic Missionaries Association of Nigeria in Ilorin.

Ms Yusuf said Muslim women play crucial roles as mothers, wives, daughters and sisters, both within the family and in wider society.

According to her, these responsibilities should not be underestimated, especially in nurturing stable homes and contributing positively to community development.

“An ideal Muslim woman should serve as a role model to her children, support her husband and nurture the next generation through proper moral and religious guidance,” she said.

Ms Yusuf also encouraged Muslim women to remain steadfast in advocating for women’s empowerment and breaking barriers that hinder their growth and survival in society.

A former deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Sidikat Ijaiya, advised couples to cultivate mutual respect, empathy and the fear of God as essential ingredients for a peaceful and stable marriage.

Also, the dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences at the University of Ilorin, Saudat Sallah Abdulbaki, urged Muslim women to remain committed to contributing meaningfully to national development.
