Ibadan chef arraigned for allegedly beating neighbour with plank

The police on Wednesday, charged a Chef, Sharon Jeremiah, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly beating her neighbour with a plank.
The defendant whose address was not provided is standing trial on charges bordering on conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and assault.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges
The prosecutor, ASP Femi Omilana, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 16, at about 11.30 p.m., at the Elebu area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by assaulting her neighbour, one Adeyinka Akanmu.
Omilana alleged that the defendant hit a plank on the complainant’s head and left hand, following a misunderstanding.
He alleged that the defendant also brought out a knife in order to further harm Akanmu.
He said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 249(d) and 355 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 12, for hearing. (NAN)
