Three in court over alleged forgery of death certificate

The police in Lagos on Tuesday, dragged three people before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, over alleged conspiracy and forgery.
The defendants are Gloria Agubosim, 37; Olukoya Sunday, 58; and Adeite Solomon, 49.
The trio are standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and forgery.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants conspired with others now at large to commit the offence on September 17, 2024, at Shomolu in Lagos.
She alleged that the defendants conspired to forged the death certificate of a deceased, one late Major Taiwo Mutairu Akangbe, in a bid to commit felony.
The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 363(1), and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, L.A Owolabi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
The court adjourned the case until April 2, for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor informed the court that the case was investigated by the Command’s Monitoring Unit, Ikeja, with ASP Bright Omokharo as the Investigating Police Officer (IPO).
The offence for which the defendants are charged, could attract a penalty of up to 14 years imprisonment, if convicted.
