The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, says a unified and coordinated approach among security agencies is key to addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

Mr Shaibu said this while receiving the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, on a familiarisation visit to Army Headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja.

The acting director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

The COAS congratulated Mr Disu on his appointment as the 23rd IGP and reaffirmed the army’s commitment to deepening inter-agency cooperation.

He recalled their shared experience in the United Nations Mission in Darfur as a foundation for enduring professional collaboration.

He also highlighted the police’s support for army operations in Kogi, Kwara, and Niger states, stressing that only a unified, well-coordinated framework could secure lasting peace nationwide.

Earlier, the IGP called for stronger collaboration and sustained synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force.

He commended the long-standing partnership, which he said was vital for national security.

Mr Disu expressed appreciation for the army’s support in training Police Mobile Force personnel, noting it has significantly boosted operational effectiveness across several security theatres.

He pledged continued intelligence sharing and coordination to strengthen joint operations.
