Lagos commuters stranded as transport workers block Oshodi-Apapa expressway

Transport workers in Lagos blocked the road leading to Cele bus stop along Oshodi-Apapa expressway, leaving commuters stranded at various bus stops.
The transporters are protesting the Lagos State Task Force’s arbitrary behaviour of always over-charging them anytime their vehicles are confiscated by the officials.
During the protest, bonfires were set up on the expressway, preventing commercial vehicles from operating on the highway.

According to a source, some hoodlums were seen wielding machetes and knives attacking commuters in commercial vehicles, demanding that they disembark.
Another source lamented the increase in transport fare due to the protest. According to him, the fare for Oshodi to Mile2 has increased from N150 to N500 as a result of the crisis.
