Former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam says the state is completely locked down for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Hyacinth Alia.

Mr Suswam stated this on Thursday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat in Makurdi.

The former governor, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC, boasted that Benue is fully behind the re-election of Mr Tinubu and Mr Alia.

According to him, history has shown that Benue has always been a one-party state and is now an APC state.

He said he and other distinguished elder statesmen and their supporters in the state have decided to join the APC because of the sound economic reforms of President Tinubu.

“Benue is completely locked down for the President, the governor and other APC contestants. We, as a state, want to give Tinubu more support than he got before so that we will get bigger and better dividends of democracy.

“He has given us a secretary to the government of the federation and a grade A minister, and it is important that every Benue son and daughter supports his re-election and the governor.

“With time, we will gain the benefits of the Tinubu economic reforms. He has taken very courageous decisions, and it takes a tough President to do that. At the initial stage, we will suffer, but with time, everything will be fine,” he said.

Mr Suswam commended Mr Alia for not abandoning projects initiated by his predecessors and urged him to continue.

On whether he would seek an elective position in 2027, he said all options were still on the table.

In his remarks, APC State Chairman Mr Benjamin Omale said the presence of Mr  Suswam in the party secretariat was highly significant to the party and state.

Mr Omale described the visit as a huge political statement and appreciated them for joining the APC.

The chairman thanked President Tinubu for standing up for truth and justice on the issue of party structures in Benue.

He assured the president of the Benue APC’s total support during the 2027 election.
