German govt announces scholarships for Nigerians, others
The German government announced a fully-funded scholarship opportunity for Nigerians and other applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) announced the scholarship opportunity in a statement on its website and social media handles on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the scholarship programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development.
“Scholarships are granted for development-related master’s studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in Sub-Saharan Africa,” it added.
The scholarship applications end on April 29, 2026, and female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to apply for funding, according to the statement.
The statement noted that the scholarship is open strictly to graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa who hold a first academic degree.
