The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the National Assembly to reconvene and summon President Muhammadu Buhari to explain the current collapse of the country’s security apparatus.

Making this call while addressing reporters in Abuja on Wednesday Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s spokesman, urged the lawmakers to cut short their vacation and return to plenary to address the wanton insecurity bedevilling the country.

The party’s spokesman  further called on the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and other relevant stakeholders to rescue the country from terrorists and bandits.

“We as a party are calling on the National Assembly to cut short their vacation and return to plenary and apply their drastic legislative instrument by summoning President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly in an open session to come and tell Nigerians, why our nation has bled this much, and how the security apparatus of our country has totally collapsed in the hands of Mr President, and the All Progressives Congress,” Mr Ologbodiyan said.

“We call on the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and all stakeholders across the country to wake up and rescue our country. Time is running out. Terrorists and bandits have taken over our land,” he added.

The opposition party’s call comes after armed men believed to be bandits invaded Nigeria Defence  Academy in the early hours of Tuesday, killing two officers and abducting one.

Also on Tuesday, gunmen killed no fewer than 35 people at Yelwa Zangam community behind the University of Jos (UNIJOS), barely two weeks after the massacre of Muslim travellers on Rukuba road.

Analysts have continued to raise concerns over the current security situation in the country.

However, the Buhari regime said the attack on NDA will boost the morale of armed forces to end criminality and terrorism in the country.
