The police command in Abia says it has arrested one suspect over an accident along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway, Uturu on Sunday, which led to the death of Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, a 200-level student of Abia State University.

The state police command disclosed this to Peoples Gazette on Monday while responding to an enquiry about a viral video showing the woman’s lifeless body on the road after the crash.

The command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, explained that two motorcycles collided, causing the passengers to fall onto the road, after which an oncoming Mack truck ran over the victim.

Mrs Chinaka said, “The Abia State police command is aware of the above incident, as our attention was drawn to a fatal motor accident at the Water Board area, Uturu, along Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway on 19/04/2026.

“The accident involved two motorcycles in a head-on collision, causing passengers to be thrown onto the tarred road. This resulted in the death of Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, a 200-level female student of ABSU, who was subsequently run over by a moving Mack truck.

“The scene has been visited by officers of the motor traffic department of the command, and injured victims were rushed to the hospital, where they are currently responding to treatment.

“The remains of late Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle have been released to her family upon request, following confirmation of death by a medical doctor. The motorcycles and truck have been recovered to the police station, and one suspect is currently in our custody.”

Mrs Chinaka also stated that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts are underway to apprehend two other suspects.
