Governor Dikko Radda has urged female aspirants to remain resolute and intensify grassroots mobilisation to realise their political ambitions.

Mr Radda gave the advice on Tuesday in Katsina, while receiving a women’s political group, the ‘Reserve Seat for Women Movement’, led by his wife, Zulaihat.

“Do not to be discouraged by electoral setbacks. Active participation in politics, regardless of immediate success, helps to build experience and credibility for future opportunities,” he said.

The governor noted that commitment and consistency often determine the level of support they attract from stakeholders.

Mr Radda also highlighted provisions of the Electoral Act that allow for consensus or direct primaries, urging aspirants to understand and effectively navigate these processes.

The governor further emphasised the importance of discipline and decorum in political engagement among women politicians, describing them as critical to earning public trust and acceptance.

He added that the All Progressives Congress remained well-positioned to guide and support women in their political pursuits.

Mr Radda also encouraged religious leaders to continue sensitising the public to the role of women in politics from an ethical and religious perspective.

The governor’s wife said the ‘Reserve Seat for Women Movement’ originated from the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum after a proposal by the national women leader.

The APC chairman in Katsina, Bashir Gambo-Saulawa, said women constituted about 75 per cent of voters in the last elections.

Mr Gambo-Saulawa assured that the party was committed to fully integrating them into the political process. He added that the APC approved a 50 per cent reduction in nomination fees for female aspirants, while urging them to comply with constitutional provisions.

The APC women leader in Katsina, Aisha Matazu, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and increased participation of women in politics.

The commissioner for women affairs, Aisha Aminu-Malumfashi, underscored the critical role of women in governance and nation-building.
