Three men remanded over alleged attempted murder of Ekiti welder

Three men Jimoh Ibrahim (28), Oni Ayodeji (49), and Adeoye Adewale (35) on Wednesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged attempted murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence on April 14, at around 12:30 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr Apata alleged that the trio conspired to attack and injure a welder, Peter Oni.
The prosecutor said Oni had received payment from Ayodeji to fabricate a pounding machine.
“Although Oni completed the work, Ayodeji later demanded modifications to convert it into a single-face machine which led to exchange of words and fracas between them.
“Ayodeji reportedly later arrived with two accomplices, and one of them Ibrahim who allegedly hit Oni in the eyes and on the head with a rod from his shop, and injured him,” Mr Apata said.
The prosecutor said that their action contravened Sections 421 and 241 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to remand the defendants at the correctional centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Chief Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, did not take the plea of the defendants.
He ordered their remand at a correctional centre and adjourned the case to May 22, for mention.
