The Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission has reinforced its commitment to advancing peace and security across the continent through innovative digital solutions.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the mission on Tuesday, after a high-level courtesy visit to the commissioner for political affairs, peace and security at the AU Commission, Bankole Adeoye.

The mission, led by its Global President, Stephen Ben-Joel, said the advancement of using innovative digital tools to achieve peace is aligned with the AU’s “Silencing the Guns” Agenda.

The mission also highlighted the transformative role of technology in addressing Africa’s security challenges.

It said central to the engagement was the unveiling and strategic positioning of the Community Peace Monitor, a flagship ICT initiative designed to strengthen early warning systems and enhance community-based intelligence gathering across member states.

Mr Ben-Joel said the CPM platform leveraged digital tools to provide real-time data, enabling faster responses to emerging threats while promoting grassroots participation in peacebuilding efforts.

According to the mission, discussions also explored how digital solutions like CPM can support policy implementation within the AU’s peace architecture, ensuring that data-driven strategies inform decision-making at both national and regional levels.

Mr Adeoye commended the initiative, noting that technology-driven approaches are essential to modern conflict prevention and align with the AU’s ongoing efforts to silence the guns across the continent.

He further expressed his readiness to collaborate with the mission to scale the initiative and integrate it into broader continental peace and security mechanisms.

As part of the visit, the mission reaffirmed its plans to deepen stakeholder engagement through an intra-African tour to promote digital innovation in governance, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

The visit also featured the presentation of an award of excellence to Adeoye in recognition of his leadership and contributions to advancing peace and stability in Africa.

The diplomatic mission said that the visit underscored a growing partnership between it and the AU.

It further stated that the relationship is anchored on leveraging technology to drive sustainable peace and accelerate the realisation of Agenda 2063.

The Agenda 2063 is the AU’s 50-year strategic framework for transforming Africa into a global  powerhouse through inclusive, sustainable development, regional integration and political unity.

It aims to achieve seven core aspirations, including a prosperous, peaceful, and integrated Africa driven by its own citizens, particularly women and youth.
