Midnight fire razes Sokoto NLC office
A midnight fire outbreak at the state secretariat of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Sokoto State has consumed properties and documents.
It was gathered that the fire started around 3 a.m., destroying the office and other properties in the building.
The NLC state secretary, Hamisu Hussaini, said the fire was likely caused by an electrical fault, describing the damage as extensive, with no item recovered from the razed building.
“The inferno consumed office equipment, including computers, printers, refrigerators, televisions and furniture, as well as vital documents spanning over 30 years,” he said.
Mr Hussaini added that the watchman on duty was unable to contain the fire as it spread rapidly through the building.
The firefighters were said to arrive at the scene late but eventually brought the blaze under control.
