A superior court jury in the United States, on Monday, found a man, Jonny Gregory, of Washington D.C., guilty of a one-count charge of strangling his wife during an argument over a laundry detergent.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office at the District of Columbia, on Monday, Jeanine  Pirro made the announcement alongside interim chief Jeffrey Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department.

The 42-year-old defendant who committed the crime on January 5, 2026, has been in custody since his arrest on January 6, 2026.

The judge, Deborah Israel, has set the defendant’s sentencing for July 31, 2026.

“Today’s guilty verdict reflects the seriousness of the defendant’s actions. He chose violence, and he will be held accountable,” stated Mr Pirro. “My office is committed to supporting survivors of domestic violence and prosecuting these cases to the fullest extent of the law.”

The attorney’s office disclosed that evidence showed that the defendant pushed his wife to the ground, punched her several times in the face, put his knee on her chest, and strangled her with two hands.

“The victim lost consciousness and urinated on herself. She was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. The victim’s 15-year-old daughter was present at the time of the assault,” the Department of Justice said in a statement on Monday.
