American rap artiste Nicki Minaj has drawn parallels between former UK first female prime minister Margaret Thatcher and UK’s Tory leader, Kemi Badenoch, a prominent British-Nigerian parliament member known for her hottakes and constant public rebukes of Keir Starmer’s leadership.

Nicki Minaj hailed Mrs Badenoch as “one of a kind” on X on Thursday, likening her feisty nature to that of late Ms Thatcher whose ironclad leadership style earned her the “Iron Lady” nickname. Ms Thatcher was UK’s first female prime minister who served from 1979 to 1990.

Mrs Badenoch, has remained a fierce critic of current prime minister Keir Starmer, since her party lost to the Labour Party. Still reeling from the heavy losses that Conservatives suffered in last week’s election in Wales and Scotland, Mrs Badenoch lashed out at the UK leader and health secretary Wes Streeting at the House of Commons on Thursday claiming their leadership had failed the people.

Mrs Badenoch derided both men, saying many parliament members had lost confidence in Mr Starmer’s leadership, after nearly 100 MPs demanded his resignation earlier this week.

According to her, Mr Starmer was only occupying office and “not in power.”

“In the past 48 hours, nearly 100 Labour MPs have called for the prime minister to resign. Four ministers have quit,”  the Tory leader said. “It is clear his authority has gone and that he will not be able to deliver what little there is in this King’s Speech.”

Impressed by Mrs Badenoch’s audacious criticisms in the House, Nicki Minaj said the movie industry will one day make a film to showcase and immortalise the British-Nigerian.

“The UK is truly one of a kind,” the American rapper tweeted, replying to a footage of Mrs Badenoch’s insult-laden arguments at the House of Commons. “They will portray her in film & TV one day… just like they did with Margaret Thatcher.”

Mrs Badenoch said she felt flattered by Nicki Minaj’s comments, explaining that she and her children were fans of her hitting,  Starships.  

“It was very flattering to hear Nicki Minaj compare me to Margaret Thatcher, who is a heroine of mine, and in fact a heroine to all Conservatives,” the Tory leader said on Friday. “I do like her song Starships, I’ve been dancing to it for a long time, as do my children.”

“So it’s very flattering that even in the U.S. they can see who is holding Labour to account – it’s the Conservatives, it is me, and that’s quite a nice thing to see.”
