A socio-political support group, Seyi Makinde Disciples (SMD), says it will mobilise over 50 million votes nationwide for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition.

The group said the Oyo State governor’s presidential ambition under the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in the 2027 was not a joke.

The SMD said this  in a statement jointly signed by its convener, Laja Adeoye, and spokesman, Olusegun Taiwo, on Saturday in Lagos.

Mr Adeoye described Mr Makinde’s presidential declaration as a long-awaited development for Nigerians yearning for purposeful leadership and national rebirth.

According to him, the declaration signals the beginning of a “Reset Nigeria Movement” across the country.

“Seyi Makinde’s declaration did not come as a surprise to millions of Nigerians who have consistently called on him to offer himself for higher national service.

“His emergence represents hope, competence and a fresh direction for Nigeria. We are determined to mobilise no fewer than 50 million votes for him nationwide. The declaration marks the beginning of the Reset Nigeria Movement aimed at restoring hope, strengthening governance and rebuilding national unity,” Mr Adeoye said.

He said the movement was designed to restore hope, strengthen governance, promote economic prosperity and rebuild national unity.

Mr Adeoye said that Mr Makinde possessed leadership qualities, administrative competence and political courage required to reposition Nigeria.

He said Mr Makinde’s governance style and people-oriented policies continued to attract support across political, ethnic and regional divides.

Mr Adeoye cited Mr Makinde’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare and economic reforms in Oyo State.

He commended the turnout at the PDP-APM Unity Mega Rally held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

He described the rally as evidence that the Reset Nigeria Movement had already gained widespread acceptance among Nigerians.

He stated, “SMD commends the massive turnout recorded during the PDP-APM Unity Mega Rally at Mapo Hall. The turnout clearly demonstrates that the Reset Nigeria Movement has already gained widespread acceptance among Nigerians. We are fully committed to mobilising no fewer than 50 million votes across Nigeria for Governor Seyi Makinde.”

According to him, the movement transcends politics and focuses on rescuing Nigeria and building an inclusive nation.

He added the group would commence nationwide mobilisation campaigns and grassroots engagements across the country.

He said youth sensitisation programmes and political consultations would also begin across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Mr Adeoye urged youths, women, professionals, artisans, market leaders and Nigerians in the diaspora to support the movement.

He said collective efforts were necessary to build a better Nigeria for all citizens.
