Group petitions EFCC over alleged misconduct by Sabon Gari ADC Reps aspirant

A civil society group, Concerned Citizens of Sabon Gari Local Government, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged misconduct by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives aspirant, Alhaji Muhammad Usman.
Alhaji Sanunu Buhari, a trustee of the group, told reporters in Zaria on Sunday that the petition was based on alleged financial irregularities and the disposal of government assets without due process.
Mr Buhari said the petition was submitted to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 13, by Messrs Ward Off Law Firm, acting as counsel to the petitioners.
He said the petition accused Mr Usman, a former sole administrator and executive chairman of Sabon Gari LGA, of misconduct while in office.
“The petition requested the EFCC to investigate alleged irregularities surrounding a classroom furniture contract awarded during his administration.
“It also raised allegations over the disposal of government-owned assets without due process,” he said.
Mr Buhari alleged that a contract valued at over N161 million to supply classroom furniture to public schools in Sabon Gari was abandoned despite the Kaduna State government’s approval.
He further claimed that landed properties, tractors, and other government equipment were sold during Mr Usman’s administration without requisite approval.
Responding, Mr Usman said he was unaware of the petition and had not been invited by the EFCC.
He said it was up to the anti-graft agency to verify the authenticity of the allegations and the evidence presented.
