A 59-year-old woman, Moromoke Olunloyo, on Thursday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly defrauding a land buyer of N200 million.

Olunloyo, who resides at Apete area of Ibadan, is facing a three-count charge bordering on fraud and land grabbing.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 29, at Oluyole Extension, Ibadan.

Mr Akinloye alleged that the defendant collected the sum of N200 million from the complainant, Samuel Afoja, for some plots of land at Alagbede village, which he failed to deliver.

He alleged that the defendant converted the money to her personal use, adding that efforts made by the complainant to get the land or money proved abortive.

He said the offences contravened Sections 383 and 419 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000 and Section 4 of the Oyo State Real Properties Protection Law, 2016.

The Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.

Ms Ogunkanmi ordered that one of the sureties must own a property within the court’s jurisdiction, while the second surety should be related to the defendant.

She adjourned the case until September 1 for mention. (NAN)
