NNPP founder Aniebonam bags Ambassador for Peace award

The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) says it has honoured Boniface Aniebonam, the founder and chairman, Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), with an award as an Ambassador for Peace (AFP).
The federation said the award followed his contributions toward promoting programmes and projects that seek to transform individuals and society, especially youths and families, to realise peace.
The Secretary-General of the federation, George Ikpot, said this during the presentation of the Ambassadors for Peace (AFP) Awards to the recipients in Abuja.
Mr Ikpot said, “We received with interest, from Amb. Cletus Amaraegbu recommendation and reports of your activities and committed efforts in promoting programmes/projects that seek to transform individuals and the society, especially youths and families to realise peace.
“And your nomination to be commissioned as an Ambassador for Peace (AFP) of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF).”
According to him, UPF has General Consultative Status at the United Nations and is a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
“UPF, with chapters in more than 194 countries, has been established to meet the needs of this time with a mission to serve as a global movement of active, committed individuals, leaders, volunteers and organisations who seek the well-being of the whole human family.
“This is guided by a vision for peace that goes beyond the interests of any particular nation, religion, ethnic group, race, culture or civilisation.
“We are all aware of our nation’s and the global political, economic and social tussles and violent conflicts at this very crucial time.
“Though we are facing these challenges and seemingly unending turbulent crises in our nation and around the globe, nevertheless, this time is also a time of great vision and hope for humankind.
“And this, we believe to be true and can be done considering activities of people like you.”
Mr Aniebonam, who is also the founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), commended the UPF for honouring him with the award.
He expressed happiness that the award would strengthen his activities toward promoting peace-building in the country.
