Two men in court over alleged N8 million land fraud

The prosecutor alleged that the defendants knew their representation was false as they failed to provide the land but made away with the money.

The police on Wednesday charged two men  Qozeem Ishola, 42, and Hammed Aliyu, 35, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged fraud.

The duo, whose addresses were not stated are standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing .

They  both, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Olufemi Olanibi, alleged that the defendants committed the offences between December 2025 and February, at Apara junction near Ajia, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendants obtained the sum of eight million naira from one Ajeigbe Sodiq, under the pretext of selling to him a plot of land.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendants knew their representation was false as they failed to provide the land but made away with the money.

The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Adebola Adeola granted the defendants bail in the sum of five million naira each with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until July 27, for hearing. (NAN)
