Civil servant seeks divorce, custody of two children

A civil servant, Achema Ayuba, on Thursday prayed an Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, to grant his divorce from his wife, Abdulrahman Muniratu, over alleged disrespect.
Mr Ayuba who resides in at Mararaba, Nasarawa state is also seeking custody of their two children.
He told the court that he married his wife under Islamic Law and the marriage was blessed with two children.
Mr Ayuba alleged that Muniratu left her matrimonial home and stayed with her mother for eight months.
“There’s no peace in my marriage because of the constant interference of my mother-in-law,” he said.
Responding, Muniratu, denied the allegations levelled against her by her husband.
She stated, “My husband ran away with our children and when he returned, he threatened to harm me if I didn’t leave his house. I ran to my mother’s house for safety,.”
She also alleged that her husband beats her mother, siblings, and even get them arrested.
She explained further that Ayuba does not provide for the children and refused to pay their school fees.
The judge, Mohammed Yakubu, adjourned the matter until July 13 for further hearing.
