Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha died on Thursday aged 47 after over three years in coma.
The demise of the Thai princess was announced in a statement by the palace on Friday.
“The medical team provided the closest and most intensive care possible, but her condition continued to decline progressively,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Ms Bajrakitiyabha died at 19:48 local time (12:48 GMT) the previous day in Chulalongkorn Hospital.
The princess slumbed while taking her dogs for a walk and has been in a coma since December 2022.
Ms Bajrakitiyabha, a lawyer, was the eldest of King Vajiralongkorn’s seven children. She bagged two post-graduate degrees from Cornell University in the U.S.
After a stint at the Thai mission to the United Nations in New York, she returned to Thailand to work in the attorney-general’s offices in Bangkok.
Ms Bajrakitiyabha was Thailand’s ambassador to Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia, from 2012-2014, before returning to the attorney-general’s office in Bangkok.
