The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, has rescued Amina Abubakar, the wife of late Major General Abubakar Rabe, who died while in bandits’ captivity.

In a statement on Monday, Samaila Uba, the spokesman for the operation, said the rescue operation followed intensified search-and-rescue efforts conducted by operation Fasan Yamma.

“During sustained offensive operations and pressure mounted on the criminal elements, troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga Village, leading to the successful recovery of Mrs Abubakar,” Mr Uba said.

He noted that bandits shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fled due to the overwhelming pressure from advancing troops.

“Mrs Abubakar was immediately evacuated and is currently receiving medical attention at a military hospital, where she is responding to treatment,” he added.

He stated that Nigerian Forces remain committed to ensuring her full recovery and are providing all necessary support to her family during this difficult period.

Peoples Gazette had earlier reported the death of Mr Rabe, the former spokesman of the Nigerian Army with his wife being held in captivity by the bandits.
