Police begin probe as gunmen kill three security operatives at NIPSS

The Plateau State police command has said gunmen killed three security agents at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Alfred Alabo, stared this in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.

Mr Alabo said that the incident occured in the early hours of Tuesday.

He stated, “On a very sad note, the command wishes to confirm the incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 16, involving security personnel on duty at NIPSS. Regrettably, three security personnel lost their lives during the incident. Security reinforcements have been deployed and patrols have been intensified around the general area. The situation is under control and normal activities have resumed within the institute.”

Mr Alabo, who said that the command had commenced investigation on the matter, calling on members of the public to be law-abiding.

Unconfirmed reports said that the security operatives affected by the incident include two soldiers and a policeman.
