The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Oluwole Oluyede, was on Friday escorted out of the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ado-Ekiti by security personnel.

Mr Oluyede was escorted from the commission’s premises at about 4:55 p.m. by police officers stationed at the INEC office.

The reason for his visit was not immediately clear, as he declined to speak to journalists after the incident.

A police officer at the gate, who spoke to Peoples Gazette on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment, said Mr Oluyede identified himself as being from Osun State before he was allowed into the premises.

“He told us he was from Osun State and that he was the deputy governor. That was why we allowed him in”, the officer said.

The officer added that security personnel were later instructed to remove him from the premises.

“They called us and asked why we allowed him inside. The man did not tell us he was the Ekiti PDP candidate. His aide also told us they were from Osun State,” the source added.
