Several people have died and others injured after a coach carrying Dutch tourists crashed in the Alpine village of Susch in the eastern canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, on Thursday.

The police in the canton of Graubünden, in a post on X, confirmed the incident but did not disclose the casualty figures or details about the circumstances that led to the accident or the identities of the victims.

The cantonal police said, “Several people died in the coach crash in Susch. Several others were also injured,” adding that emergency responders were dispatched to the site of the accident.

The police, however, told AFP that the detailed number of casualties would not be disclosed until the victims’ families had been informed.

Viral videos showed emergency responders trying to rescue victims and pull bodies from the vehicle, which had overturned onto its side below the road, while helicopters were also stationed nearby.

Local press reported that the bus belonged to the Dutch Oad tour operator, which offers trips across Europe.

However, the Dutch Federation of Travel Agencies (ANVR) told AFP that the bus, which belonged to the Dutch Oad tour operator, left the Netherlands on Monday, carrying 48 passengers, and was on a day trip to Switzerland from Austria when the crash occurred.
