Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has described his victory at the just-concluded governorship election in the state as a vote of confidence from Ekiti people.

Mr Oyebanji was declared the winner of the election having polled a total of 319,224 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party’s Oluwole Oluyede and the African Democratic Congress’s Oludare Bejide who secured 40,543 and 12,872 to emerge second and third respectively.

Reacting to his victory shortly after the announcement on Sunday, Mr Oyebanji expressed joy that he secured 85% of the total votes cast.

“The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear,” the governor stated. “I am deeply humbled by the scale of this victory. Securing a clean sweep across all 16 local government areas, and 85% of the popular vote is a humbling vote of confidence from Ekiti Kete.”

The governor further described the mandate as a challenge for him to continue on the path of continuous development, stability and a future of endless opportunities.

“From our urban centers to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities.

“This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper. There are no winners or losers today, there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility,” he added.

Mr Oyebanji vowed to pledge to honor the immense trust from the people and promised continued leadership rooted in humility, dedication and fairness.
