Nigeria Immigration Service graduates 62 senior officers, reaffirms commitment to leadership development

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has graduated 62 senior officers from the 13th command course.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony for participants in the Immigration Command and Staff College (ICSC), Sokoto, the Comptroller-General of NIS, Kemi Nandap, expressed an unwavering commitment to leadership development.
In a statement by the NIS public relations officer (SPRO), Akinsola Akinlabi, on Sunday in Abuja, Ms Nandap also reaffirmed commitment to institutional capacity building following the development.
She, however, urged the 62 graduating senior officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and excellence in the discharge of their duties.
The CG was represented by the assistant comptroller-general (ACG) in charge of the directorate of human resource management, Samuel Agba.
She said the officers had undergone a three-month intensive training programme focused on strategic leadership, border security and migration management.
She urged the officers, drawn from commands and formations across the country, to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course in strengthening the service’s operations.
“NIS remains resolute in building a highly professional, disciplined and technology-driven workforce capable of responding effectively to emerging migration and border security challenges,” she said.
Ms Nandap urged the graduands to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating integrity, accountability, innovation, and transformational leadership in discharging their responsibilities.
She said the service would continue to invest in capacity building to equip its personnel with the competencies required to effectively safeguard the nation’s borders and deliver efficient migration management.
Earlier, the commandant of the ICSC, A.D. Bagari, congratulated the officers on the successful completion of the rigorous training programme.
Mr Bagari urged them to apply the knowledge and leadership skills acquired during the course to improve operational effectiveness.
He also charged them to remain responsive to the demands of public service and to continue demonstrating vigilance in securing Nigeria’s borders.
He said the successful completion of the course marked another milestone in the service’s efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and institutional excellence.
The highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the pass command course (PCC) honour on the 62 graduating officers.
Awards were also presented to outstanding participants by the representative of the comptroller-general and other distinguished guests, while course provosts were decorated with badges of honour by the commandant in recognition of their exemplary service.
The ceremony attracted dignitaries, including the representative of the Sultan of Sokoto, heads and representatives of security agencies, and other guests, who commended the NIS for its sustained investment in leadership development and institutional excellence.
