Police impound 121 vehicles, prosecute 114 traffic offenders in Gombe
The police in Gombe have prosecuted 114 offenders and impounded 121 vehicles for traffic-related offences.
The commissioner of police, Umar Chuso, said this at a news conference in Gombe on Wednesday.
He said the vehicles were impounded and offenders prosecuted within 22 days of the commencement of enforcement operations against violations of the National Road Traffic Regulations on June 16.
Mr Chuso said the offences range from vehicles operating with covered, defaced, concealed, altered and those without registration number plates.
According to Mr Chuso, the enforcement exercise is a proactive security measure aimed at improving vehicle identification and strengthening public safety.
He said the prosecution of the offenders was in accordance with Section 67(1) of the National Road Traffic Regulations and Section 10(3) of the Road Traffic Act, 2012.
The CP urged the public to ensure that their vehicles were duly registered and that registration number plates were properly affixed and clearly visible at all times.
