The family of Abdulazeez Abiodun, a farmer allegedly murdered near his farm in the Isanlu-Isin council area of Kwara, is demanding justice.

Rofiat Abdulazeez, the deceased’s daughter, narrated in an open letter on Monday how Mr Abiodun’s remains were discovered in a bush.

Mr Abiodun left his home around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday for his cocoa farm in Owa-Onire but failed to return.

“As the day progressed and he did not return home, we became increasingly worried. Repeated attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful. Concerned for his safety, we alerted local hunters in our community and sought their assistance in locating him,” she stated.

Ms Abdulazeez explained that when they reached the farm, the hunters found the farmer’s motorcycle, but Mr Abiodun was nowhere to be found.

“This immediately raised alarm, and we feared he might have been kidnapped,” said the daughter. “We waited anxiously, expecting a ransom call, but none came.”

Ms Abdulazeez said that after an extensive search, the hunters found the deceased with his hands tied.

The daughter urged “relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this case, identify those responsible, and ensure that they are held accountable and brought to justice”.

The police command in Kwara confirmed the killing.

“I am aware of the case. The commissioner has directed the homicide department to thoroughly investigate the incident. We are awaiting the outcome of the investigation before we can take any step,” said Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokeswoman for the command.
