Ogun resident sentenced to prison for breaking into church

Ahmed Akinbode, 21, was, on Wednesday, sentenced to one year in prison for breaking into a church.

An Ota Magistrate’s Court in Ogun, on Wednesday, sentenced a 21-year-old man, Ahmed Akinbode, to one year in prison for breaking into a church.

The convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and burglary brought against him.

The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, sentenced the convict to one year in prison with an option of a N50,000 fine for the offences.

The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offences on July 15, at about 9:45 p.m., at Saviour Pastoral Church, Ota.

Mr Adaraloye said that Mr Akinbode broke into the church and stole a band instrument and two plates of Simba, valued at N80,000.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390 and 415 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
