Oyo police nab suspected robber, recover stolen tricycle

The Oyo State police command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Akindele Seun, and recovered a tricycle allegedly stolen at gunpoint in Ilorin, Kwara State.
A statement on Saturday by Ayanlade Olayinka, the command’s spokesman, said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested while driving the tricycle along the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road.
“Acting swiftly on the information, operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit, mounted an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation at Irepo Area, where they successfully intercepted the tricycle, bearing registration number Lagos EPE 236 QR, and arrested the rider, Akindele Seun, a 31-year-old male,” he said.
Mr Olayinka said the suspect confessed during interrogation to robbing the owner of the tricycle at gunpoint in Ilorin before fleeing with the vehicle to Oyo State.
He said the recovered tricycle had been taken into police custody, while efforts were underway to trace and identify its rightful owner and facilitate its return.
He added that Investigation was equally in progress to apprehend any other persons connected with the crime.
