Governor Nasir Idris has promised to assist the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, in security and cultural heritage matters after hosting participants of Course 48 on a courtesy visit at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

He stated this on Tuesday while playing host to participants of Course 48 of NIPSS, who paid a courtesy visit to him at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The team was led by a director in the institution, Nima Salman. Addressing the participants, Idris said the state government was always ready to partner with NIPSS and appreciated their visit.

“Kebbi is always ready to partner with NIPSS, Kuru, for the development of our dear country, Nigeria. We would also like you to visit Zuru and Yauri to see the diversity of our cultural heritage before you leave the state,” he said.

According to him, apart from the famous Argungu Fishing Festival, Kebbi is also home to the Uhola Cultural Festival in Zuru, the Regatta in Yauri, and Hutongo in Gwandu Emirate.

He, however, granted all the team’s requests, including the construction of a flat at Kuru and a financial contribution to the security of the centre, among others.

Mr Idris commended the institute for being one of Nigeria’s most prestigious institutions, free of certificate forgery and for upholding high standards of membership.

Mr Salman explained that they were in the state to understudy the state’s rich culture, which “is part of the programme of the institute for every course set”.

Mr Salman tendered all the requests of the director-general of the institute, which included the construction of a flat at the institute, financial contribution to the security of NIPSS, attendance at the presentation of the report of Course 48, and the turbaning ceremony of Muhammadu Bande as the District Head of Besse.

Mr Salman commended the Kebbi government for its hospitality to the team since their arrival in the state.
