OsunDecides LIVE: Voting, news analysis, results as Adeleke, Oyebamiji, Salaam lock horns
Today, voters across Osun are going to the polls to elect their governor for the next four years. The Independent National Electoral Commission says it distributed 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to registered voters ahead of Saturday’s governorship election. Voting is expected to start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m., when polling areas will close and counting will begin.
Fourteen political parties are participating in this year’s election, which looks like a three-way race involving incumbent Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party), main opposition Bola Oyebamiji (All Progressives Congress) and Najeem Salaam (African Democratic Congress).
Mr Adeleke is seeking a second four-year term, which either Messrs Oyebamiji or Salaam could deny him. Meanwhile, the run-up to the election has been characterised by deadly violence between the APC and AP.
