NDLEA raids six drug black spots in Jigawa, arrests eight suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa Command, has dismantled six notorious drug black spots in Hadejia Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Wada, disclosed this in a statement in Dutse on Saturday.
The operation followed the recent dismantling of three high-risk drug black spots in Kazaure.
The Kazaure operations led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of 1.278kg of assorted illicit drugs.
Mr Wada said the Hadejia raids were conducted under “Operation Restore Order”, following the directive of the NDLEA chairman, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd).
He said the operation was aimed at reclaiming communities from drug dealers and protecting youths from substance abuse.
“The Command, under its Commander, CN Hassan Kabaju, recently carried out sporadic raids and successfully dismantled six notorious drug joints in Hadejia township,” Mr Wada said.
He listed the locations as Unguwar San Kira, Tsohuwar Kasuwa, Kofar Fada, Reservoir Hadejia, Kasuwar Kuda and Kwanar Prison.
According to him, eight suspects were apprehended during the raids, while 43.96 grams of assorted illicit drugs were recovered.
Mr Wada said the recovered exhibits included cannabis sativa, Exol-5 tablets and Diazepam tablets.
He assured that the command would sustain the tempo until all drug joints across the state were eliminated.
He added that investigations had commenced, after which the suspects would be charged in court.
“The command therefore calls on members of the public to volunteer credible information on drug peddling and abuse in their neighbourhoods,” he said.
Mr Wada assured residents that the agency would treat all information provided with utmost confidentiality.
