Ogogo: Family announces dates for fidau prayer, artistes’ day

The family of the late veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly called Ogogo, has announced dates for fidau prayer and artistes’ day in his honour.
A colleague and veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday.
“The 8th-day fidau prayer will take place on Monday, 31st August, 2026 at Ilaro,” the statement read.
Mr Kosoko, who announced the development on behalf of the deceased’s family, urged friends and colleagues to be in attendance.
“The family humbly appeals to all friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to continue to rally around the family during this difficult period. We want you to come en masse to Ilaro so that together, we can offer our prayers for the peaceful repose of our beloved colleague and ask Almighty Allah to grant him Al Janat Fridaus,” he added.
Mr Kosoko also noted that “an Artistes’ Day will be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.”
He said the event would be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and feature actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers coming together to celebrate the late actor’s life.
Mr Kosoko added, “This is a tradition and a fitting tribute from members of the entertainment industry to one of our great icons whose contributions to the industry will not be forgotten.”
Mr Hassan died of stage four cancer on Sunday amid efforts by family and friends for his healing.
He was buried on Monday amid tears in his hometown Ilaro, Ogun State.
