AFC Champions League Elite winners Al-Ahli, on Wednesday, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, defeated OFC Pro League champions Auckland FC in the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific play-off of the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

The encounter was the first of five matches to determine which team will follow in the footsteps of Real Madrid of Spain and Paris Saint-Germain of France, in becoming the FIFA Intercontinental Cup champions.

Al Ahli will now face African champions Mamelodi Sundowns, for the winner of the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup, in Pretoria, South Africa on September 19.

The winner of the tie, will then qualify for the FIFA Challenger Cup, to face the winners of the FIFA Derby of the Americas.

PSG who are already waiting in the finals of the competition, will be joined by five other continental champions.

CONCACAF winners Toluca FC will face the winners of the FIFA Derby of the Americas, against the yet-to-be-determined CONMEBOL Libertadores winners. The South American champions will be determined by the Libertadores final in Montevideo on 28 November.

The FIFA Derby of the Americas, the FIFA Challenger Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final will all take place at a centralised venue, to be confirmed at a later date.
