Edo man nabbed for burglary, multimillion-naira stolen property recovered

The police command in Edo has arrested a suspect, Marvellous Ozu, 42, in connection with a break-in and theft at a pharmaceutical and provision store along St. Saviour Road, Benin City.
In a statement on Wednesday, Eno Ikoedem, the command’s spokesperson, said a trader dealing in pharmaceuticals and provisions reported a burglary case to St. Saviour Police Division on Saturday.
The trader’s store, at 65 St Saviour Road, Benin City, was burgled. Thieves stole several items, including 25 bundles of electrical wires and cables, a 43-inch Hisense LED television, cartons of Chabbot and Valentino brandy, a Raleigh bicycle, assorted medicated soaps, perfumes, and N350,000.
Ms Ikoedem said, “Dealers in fairly-Used items were also alerted. At about 1400hrs the same day, the police detectives successfully apprehended the suspect at Mission Road, Benin City, while attempting to sell some of the stolen items.”
She noted that a search warrant was subsequently executed at his residence on Ogbebor Street, off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City, where stolen items were recovered, including a 43-inch Hisense LED television.
She added that five bottles of Chabbot brandy, assorted medicated soaps, perfumes, and some bundles of electrical wires and cables, among other items belonging to the complainant, were recovered.
