One person killed, others injured in Bauchi youth clash

The Bauchi State police command has said one person was killed and others injured during a violent clash between youths of Buskuwa and Mabani villages in the Gamawa Local Government Area of the state.
A statement on Wednesday by the command’s spokesman, Nafiu Habib, said a suspect linked to the crime was attested.
He stated that the command received a report on Wednesday at about 8:00 p.m from a 55-year-old resident of Buskuwa village.
“The incident began on Monday, 25th August 2026 at about 2000hrs when three persons from Mabani village namely Babangida Musa, 20 years; Usman Abdu, 20 years; and Ya’u Muhammad, 18 years, were allegedly attacked on their way to Buskuwa village by a group of unidentified youths suspected to be from Buskuwa,” he said.
Mr Habib said the victims were beaten with sticks and sustained varying degrees of injury.
According to him, in a reprisal later that night, one Jumba Adamu was alleged to have mobilised youths from Mabani village to Buskuwa village, where they attacked residents with sticks.
He stated that as a result, some residents were assaulted, adding that one of the victims, Muhammadu Dare, died on the spot and others sustained injuries.
Mr Habib said operatives of Gamawa Division, in collaboration with hunters and vigilantes promptly mobilised to the scene.
“The injured victims and the corpse were immediately evacuated to General Hospital, Gamawa for medical attention and postmortem examination.
“The attending medical doctor certified the deceased dead. Three victims were admitted and are currently receiving treatment, while three others were treated and discharged,” he noted.
He added that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons involved.
“Preliminary investigation has commenced, and upon conclusion, the case file will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet investigation and prosecution,” he said.
