The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has decorated ovet 176 newly promoted senior officers and men across the state.

The FRSC Ondo State Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, who decorated the officers and men on Thursday in Akure, said 50 senior officers and 126 marshals were promoted from different ranks in the recent exercise.

Mr Ibitoye charged the officers and men to see the elevation as responsibility for service delivery and ensure better diligence in duties instead of an advancement in rank

According to him, the primary objective of the new ranks is for the officers and men to improve corps functionality, resilience, and service delivery to the Nigerian public.

He stated, “In Ondo State alone, five officers were elevated from the rank of chief route commander (CRC) to assistant corps commander (ACC) and seven officers from superintendent route commander (SRC) to chief route commander (CRC).

“Also, seven officers were promoted from route commanders (RC) to superintendent route commanders (SRC); 18 from deputy route commanders (DRC) to route commanders (RC); and 13 from assistant route commanders (ARC) to deputy route commanders (DRC). Meanwhile, in the men category, 126 marshals were promoted, which consists of one assistant chief inspector elevated to deputy chief inspector, five principal marshal inspectors to assistant chief inspector and five senior marshal inspectors to principal marshal inspector.

“Also, eight marshal inspector 1 elevated to senior marshal inspector; 21 marshal inspectors 2 to marshal inspector 1; 14 marshal inspectors 3 to marshal inspector 2; 14 deputy chief road marshal assistants to chief road marshal assistant. Others are seven senior road marshal assistants elevated to deputy road marshal assistants; 48 road marshal assistant 1 to senior road marshal assistant and three road marshal assistant 2 to road marshal assistant 1. So, all officers and men are expected to double their efforts in road safety advocacy, enforcement, engineering audits, and public collaboration to reduce road traffic crashes (RTC). To whom much is given, much is expected, so that the corps will have better performance, especially on the highways.”

Mr Ibitoye advised those not included in the promotion to increase their performance and dedication.

“The ultimate goal is to ensure that all personnel contribute effectively towards reducing highway accidents and enhancing overall operational efficiency within the corps,” he said.

A former FRSC Corps Commander, Michael Adigun, advised the newly promoted personnel to maintain high performance and diligence, saying continued advancement depended on hard work and constant vigilance while assisting motorists.

Also, Opeyemi Adigun, who spoke on behalf of the officers, expressed gratitude to the corps for recognising their commitment and hard work through the elevation.

He pledged renewed allegiance and increased dedication to the service for humanity and the nation.
