Gombe United Football Club has announced the appointment of a former Lobi Stars’ head coach, Eddy Donbraye, as its new technical adviser ahead of the commencement of the new season.

Gombe United will begin their campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL) at home against Jigawa Golden Stars on November . 7.

The Media Director of the club, Shuaibu Angazy, confirmed this during an interview in Gombe on Thursday.

Mr Angazy said that the choice of Mr Dombraye was borne out of his vast coaching experience both at home and abroad.

He said that Muniru Abdul-Azeez has also been appointed as the team’s head coach.

According to him, the appointments is to strengthen the coaching crew and ensure that the club bounces back quickly to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL)

“Gombe United FC is delighted to announce key appointments to our technical crew ahead of the new season.

“Dombraye, a former professional player turned coach with over a decade of coaching experience in and outside Nigerian football will serve as the technical adviser.

“Muniru Abdul-Azeez (Coach Sabo) is stepping into the Chief Coach role to continue driving the team forward.

“Abdullahi Abubakar, as the new match analyst, will bring his experience and expertise to sharpen the club’s tactical edge,” he said.

Mr Angazy said that together with the rest of the technical crew, “they will lead Gombe United’s charge as the club prepares for an exciting new season. “

The media director, who expressed optimism that they would live up to expectations of returning the NPFL, said that the new appointees would be unveiled within the next 72 hours.

Mr Dombraye, a UEFA A-licensed coach, is a retired Nigerian professional footballer.

He represented Nigeria internationally at the U-20 level (1999 FIFA World Youth Championship) and the Super Eagles team.

He has also served as assistant coach in the Ukrainian clubs of FC Arsenal Kyiv U-17 and FK Obolon Kyiv.
