Outrage, arrest after Nepalese caught robbing corpse amid flash flood
While rescue efforts are ongoing and international communities are commiserating with victims of the Nepal-Tibet flash flood, some rogue Nepalese were stealing earrings and necklaces from a corpse floating in the flood.
An online video showed two men stealing earrings and a necklace from the corpse. The video has sparked public outrage, condemning the men for robbing the dead.
Nepalese police on Thursday announced the arrest of the rogues.
“Regarding the individuals taken into custody for stealing the earrings from the ear of the deceased,” the police said.
Per a police update on Friday, 469 people have been killed, over 1,500 injured, while over 1,000 people are still missing after the flood tore through communities within the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday.
