The police have arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery gang who operate between Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and recovered two stolen vehicles.

In a statement on Sunday, Ani Iniedu, the force spokesman, said operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) arrested the suspects after receiving credible intelligence.

“Acting on actionable intelligence, operatives of the STS, between 14th and 19th August 2026, conducted coordinated operations across Kaduna State and Abuja,” he said.

The suspects were identified as Ahmed Saidu, a.k.a. Diamond ‘M’; Alex Gabriel, a.k.a. Junior ‘M’; and Ahmed Mahudu, a.k.a. Diamond ‘M’, for their alleged involvement in a series of armed robbery incidents involving the snatching of vehicles at gunpoint.

Mr Iniedu said the suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation to their involvement in the criminal activities and implicated Yakubu Yewa, a.k.a. Y/Come, as the kingpin of the syndicate.

“Investigation revealed that the said suspect is currently in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial for armed robbery,” he noted.

According to him, further investigation indicated that the alleged kingpin coordinated and directed the syndicate’s armed robbery operations, as well as the disposal of stolen vehicles both within Nigeria and outside the country.

Items recovered include one red Toyota Corolla and one army-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle.
