Gov Adeleke’s campaign hails Oyebamiji for accepting defeat

The Imole Campaign Council has commended the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, for accepting the election outcome and congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory at the polls.
Mr Oyebamiji congratulated Mr Adeleke on his victory in the August 15 governorship election held across the 30 council areas of Osun.
In a statement on Monday, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign’s spokesperson, commended the candidate for his sportsmanship and for accepting the election outcome.
“This is a commendable demonstration of sportsmanship and political maturity. Elections will come and go, but Osun state remains our collective heritage.
“The election was keenly contested, emotions ran high, and regrettably, precious lives were lost. This is therefore a time for healing, reconciliation and sober reflection,” he said.
Mr Olajengbesi stated that they called on leaders across political divides to embrace this moment and work together for the peace, progress and development of our dear state.
According to him, political differences should never become permanent divisions among a people who share a common destiny.
“Also, it is important to note that Governor Ademola Adeleke is open to ideas and suggestions from Mr Oyebamiji and others on how to move Osun state forward. The development of our dear state and the progress of her people is a collective responsibility,” Mr Olajengbesi explained.
He added that there would always be another election and another opportunity to disagree politically, noting that, for now, Osun should heal.
“Let our leaders unite, and let the interest of our people come first,” Mr Olajengbesi said.
