The Speaker, Edo House of Assembly, Yekini Idaiye, on Tuesday reiterated the essence of love and unity in nation-building.

Mr Idaiye made the call while addressing legislators and members of staff at the monthly Praise and Worship Service held at the Assembly Complex in Benin City.

He charged the members of the assembly staff to remain steadfast, maintain high moral standards, remain united and shun complaints but explore appropriate communication channels to state their needs.

The speaker called on all and sundry to wholeheartedly support the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration.

He described the governor as a hardworking leader, who means well for Edo people.

He insisted that as a people, “we must imbibe love and unity to attain greater heights.”

The speaker also solicited the cooperation of workers and reiterated that he runs an open-door policy.

He directed staff to lodge both official and unofficial complaints in his office while assuring them of his prompt attention.

He said the monthly prayer meeting served as both spiritual grounding and an alignment to maximise public service efficiency in the assembly and across the state.

In his sermon on the theme, “Let Brotherly Love Continue,” anchored on Hebrews 13:1-6, Pastor Chris Igbinijesu, harped on love among worshippers of God.

Mr Igbinijesu said love is the answer to hatred and called on believers to radiate love at all times.

Other speakers at the event included Donald Okogbe, member representing Akoko-Edo Constituency II and the Clerk of the House, Yahaya Omogbai.

They enjoined staff to rededicate themselves to duty, maintain peace and unity, and pray for the leadership of the house.

The Deputy Speaker, Atu Osamwonyi, also rendered a song to acknowledge God’s guidance.

The monthly worship service also had in attendance,  the House Majority Leader, Ojezelle Ojezua, and Eric Okaka ( Owan East ) among others.

Prayers were offered for the continuous guidance of the governor and leadership of the state house of assembly.

Recall that the speaker was elected on August17, after the former speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, announced his resignation.
