The Delta State police vommand has arrested six suspected drug dealers and recovered illicit drugs during a raid at a suspected along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, Agbor.

The state police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, stated this in a statement on Thursday.

He said the police acting on credible intelligence “raided a store suspected to be used for the sale of illicit drugs.”

He noted that arrested suspects include Anabel Haruna (18), Terhemen Faith (19), Kaityo Abigail (23), Iorkee Eunice (26), Osomuri Emmanuel (31), and a 15-year-old female whose identity was withheld.

“A subsequent search of a vehicle linked to the suspects led to the recovery of quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol and other suspected illicit substances,” Mr Edafe said.

He stated that the suspects and exhibits were in custody and investigation ongoing.

Mr Edafe said the state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Erale, warned that the command would continue to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks operating in the state.

The CP said proliferation of illicit drugs fuels violent crime and other forms of criminality.

He directed operatives across the command to intensify intelligence gathering and enforcement against drug dealers and their networks.

Mr Erale said the state would not be allowed to become a haven for illicit drug trade or any form of criminal enterprise.
