Troops of Fansan Yamma have rescued three kidnap victims and recovered two vehicles used by terrorists along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume council area of Katsina.

The rescue of the victims followed a distress call from residents about terrorist activities on Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, Aliyu Danja, the operation spokesman, disclosed the development.

“Acting on the distress call, troops in collaboration with the personnel of the Nigeria Police swiftly mobilised to the scene and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower,” he said.

He said that the terrorists fled in disarray into the surrounding bush, abandoning their victims.

Mr Danja stated, “Exploitation of the general area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims along with two vehicles used by the terrorists.”

He noted that the rescued victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the divisional police officer, Dandume, while troops continue to dominate the general area with aggressive patrols to deny the terrorists freedom of action.
